West Metro Prowlers Girls BigWest Fastpitch Leagues - 14U | 16U | 18U | HS - Summer 2023
This is a competitive, skills, community based traveling league and an evaluation is used. Ideal team roster size is 12 players and no player is guaranteed a spot on any team regardless of team placement in previous leagues/seasons. Teams will be formed with players that have competitive experience and skill level to compete in the MN Softball BigWest League, 2 local tournaments, State Qualifiers tournament & potentially State Tournament.
If we have qualified applicants, the top team in each age group will have a paid/non-parent head coach. We will rely on 2 additional volunteer parent or non-parent assistant coaches and potentially a team manager for the top team. The 2nd tier team in each age group will consist of all volunteer coaches. If a non parent/paid coach does not work out players will be reimbursed the money alloted for a paid head coach and a parent coach will be assigned as the head coach.
14U|16U|18U|HS - Eligible birth years include; 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 & 2004. Anyone interested regardless of where you live or go to school can register for the West Metro Prowlers Fastpitch league. Historically our program participants have resided in Waconia, Cologne, Mayer, Minnetrista, New Germany, Excelsior, Chaska, Glencoe, St. Bonifacius & Victoria.
There is no guarantee that there will be enough players to fill out a team. There could also be an opportunity to form more than one team. Independent evaluators will be used. WAA and the Softball Advisory Board will also consider previous season coaches evaluations to create teams. In the event you were evaluated and not selected to the Big West Softball League you will receive a full refund minus the $15 evaluation fee/$10 processing fee ($25 total.)
League games will be played one or two nights per week, Mon-Thursday, however, if games are rescheduled due to weather you could potentially play Fri/Sat/Sun. The league plays double headers on game nights. Tournaments will be on weekends. Home games will be played at the Waconia High School East Varsity & JV Field Complex in Waconia. In season practices will take place in Waconia 1-2 evenings a week potentially beginning in April, however, if the majority of the team is participating in the WHS HS Softball program their season will begin after the HS season is complete around the 3rd week in May.
All uniforms will be available at the January evaluation for participants to try on so the correct size is ordered. A parent/guardian must come in to tryouts with their player and have the child try on the jersey. Parents/guardians will be asked to initial that they have tried on the uniforms and the correct size was selected. WAA is not liable if the uniform was not tried on and the correct size wasn’t selected.
Other off season training and player development opportunities will be communicated via email as they are coordinated beginning fall of 2022 and will be “à la carte.” We support multi-sport athletes so please pick and choose what position specific, hitting, pitching and catching training opportunities work into your schedule as they are presented locally or at nearby facilities. We ask for your team softball commitment beginning spring/summer 2023 (Mid May-July only if you are playing softball in the MSHSL.) During the primary softball season of June/July players are expected to make softball their priority sport and attend 90%-100% practices and games.

West Metro Prowlers Summer 2023 payment & registration must be turned in PRIOR to evaluations. Register and pay $25 by July 27, 2022 to attend the August 1, 2022 evaluation. There is a payment option available for the remaining fee or you can choose to pay in full. On October 7, 2022 your card will be charged $330 with the remaining balance of $330 charged on December 16, 2022. After December 16, 2022 a payment plan is no longer offered and you’ll need to pay the full fee. If you register after January 13, 2022 add $30.
Refunds: A full refund will be given minus $25 (processing fee and evaluation fee) up until January 22, 2023. Once teams are posted you will have 48 hours to accept or decline. We cannot offer a refund/credit/transfer after the 48 hours of the teams being posted.
$685 Fee Includes: 1 Uniform top, 3 player/family club t-shirts, 4-8 team pitching/catching/hitting trainers sessions (TBD), two Minnesota tournaments, State Qualifier Tournament, State Tournament(if earned), February open gym/batting cage opportunities in Waconia or at other possible nearby locations, equipment, game and field supplies, umpire fees, administration and a $25 non-refundable evaluation fee and processing fee. **Other fees may apply based on if the team/coaches decide to play/qualify for additional tournaments including Nationals.
Team Apparel & Swag: Team pants, socks, belts and other fan gear and swag will be available for purchase after the 2nd evaluation date. This information will be sent out via email.
Coaches, players and parents will have to sign a code of conduct form before the participant is allowed to play.
